About the school

The School of The Arts at the University of Hull is a vibrant, multi-disciplinary, arts community which specialises in the creative industries, drama, film, game and graphic design, media, music and music production.

Our rich history spans over 50 years. Many leading industry practitioners studied here and the school's academics are all experts in their fields.

Our excellent facilities include state-of-the-art recording studios, the world-class Middleton Hall concert venue and media labs. We're also one of the few universities in the UK to have a fully working, professionally licensed theatre, The Gulbenkian Centre.

James Graham

Hull University Drama alumnus and British playwright and screenwriter James Graham received an OBE in the 2020 New Year’s Honours list for services to drama and young people in British theatre. James is the recipient of many awards, including an Olivier Award for Labour of Love.

James Rushworth – 'Intake' EP

Music graduate and current PhD student James Rushworth has secured a long-term role with cutting-edge dance music distribution company Label Worx following a successful internship. This invaluable industry experience has helped James to release his own original music.
