Associate Membership

Join the Brynmor Jones Library

The Brynmor Jones Library accepts applications to join the Library as an Associate Member from our local community. You are able to use this form to apply and renew existing associate membership. This provides annual access which may suit those wanting to use our resources for longer than a month. Our day visitor scheme may be more suitable for short term access, those currently studying at other higher education institutions should apply using SCONUL

Free associate membership is open to the following groups and individuals:

Category Reference Borrowing
Qualified teachers working in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire, Scarborough and the surrounding area.  Free  Free
Members of administrative staff of the local education authorities of these areas, or an Inspector of Schools based in those areas.  Free Free 
Employed by a regional NHS trust which has Corporate Membership of the Library.  Free Free 
Alumni of the University of Hull *  Free £50 annual fee
Retired member of staff (Retired, Emeritus, Fellow and Senior Fellow) Free Free
Other individuals who can show a clear need to use specific library physical holdings, that are not readily available through other means.
 Free £75 annual fee

* Alumni of the University of Hull include certificate and diploma holders at pre-degree (180 credits minimum) and postgraduate levels. Holders of university-validated awards for the completion of programmes of study undertaken at partner colleges are not entitled to Associate Membership under this definition.

 

Borrowing Entitlement

Associate members who have borrowing rights may borrow up to 10 books or other items at any one time.  Items must be returned by the due dates specified or renewed.  Fines are charged on all overdue items. Associate members are not eligible to borrow 24 hour loan items.

 

Apply for an annual Associate Membership card

  • You need your card to enter the Library and to borrow books. 
  • You must never allow your card to be used by anyone else, either to gain entry to the Library or to borrow books.
  • Proof of name and address are required when collecting your Associate Membership card
  • Please ensure you have read through our Library regulations and adhere to our policies.
