Information about the library search engine and how it works.
Books, journal articles, and more, in one search
The library search engine instantly searches...
All the online items you find in the library search are available on and off-campus.
You may occasionally see a University of Hull sign-on screen - just enter your usual university user ID / email address and password. More information on off-campus access.
How to search
Try entering some keywords in the search box, e.g.:
- words from the title
- or an author's name
- a particular topic
- a phrase "in quotes"
OR, you can enter a full citation. For example, a search for Sadeghalbanaei, L., et al (2023). The Role of High-density Lipoprotein in Oral and Dental Diseases. Current Medicinal Chemistry, 30(20), 2226-2246 will take you direct to the article.
Is my database included?
The library search is often a great place to start your research or find a specific book. However, the search results will not include the contents of every database we subscribe to.
Please continue to use the databases: A-Z / by subject pages to find your favourite database and perform more detailed or systematic research.
Search beyond the library's collection
The library can't afford to buy everything!
If you want to see what else might be available, tick Add results beyond Hull Library's collection in the list of search results. Even if it's not in Hull Library's collection, you will see an option to obtain this item via the Inter Library Loan service.
Can't find what you're looking for?
We are working on some changes to the Library Search, including new ways to save searches and view your library account. You can try a preview of the changes (the link should log you in to your library account).
