Information about the library search engine and how it works.
Books and journal articles in one search
The library search engine instantly searches...
- everything on the library shelves
- journal articles from over 80% of our journal titles
- eBooks and reference material (e.g. encyclopedias)
- our own researchers' publications in Repository@Hull
Everything you find in the library search is available on and off-campus.
You may occasionally see a University of Hull sign-on screen - just enter your usual university user ID / email address and password. More information on off-campus access.
How to search
Try entering some keywords in the search box, e.g.:
- words from the title
- or an author's name
- a particular topic
- a phrase "in quotes"
Is my database included?
The library search is often a great place to start your research or find a specific book. However, the search results will not include the contents of every database we subscribe to.
Please continue to use the databases: A-Z / by subject pages to find your favourite database and perform more detailed or systematic research.
Search beyond the library's collection
The library can't afford to buy everything!
If you want to see what else might be available, tick Add results beyond Hull library's collection in the list of search results.
