Applying for a Student Visa
English language requirements
Provide proof
You will need to meet the English language entry requirements for your course. If English is not your first language, you must prove you can read, write, speak and understand English language when you apply, unless you are eligible for an exemption.
Pre-sessional English Support
Got an offer to study at Hull? We offer short online courses to students who do not meet the University’s English Language requirements. The course you take will depend on the entry requirements for your main course and your current level of English.
During your studies
Meeting your visa conditions
As an international student, you must follow your visa conditions while in the UK, including keeping your student record up to date, meeting the attendance requirements for your course, and complying with your study and work conditions.
Travel to Europe while in the UK
Planning to explore Europe during your time in the UK? You may need to apply for a Schengen visa before you travel. This visa allows you to visit multiple countries within the European Economic Area using one application.
Working in the UK after graduation
Many of our students choose to work in the UK after they graduate. To do this, you will need the right visa.
Once you have successfully completed your studies, you may be eligible to apply for the Graduate Route visa. The Graduate Route allows you to:
- Look for work
- Start your own business or be self-employed
If granted, undergraduate and postgraduate Masters graduates will receive a visa for two years. PhD graduates will receive a visa for three years. You do not need a job offer or sponsorship from the University or an employer to apply.
Learn more about the Graduate Route and other types of work visas on the UK Government website.
