Dr Philippa Case

About Dr Philippa Case
Philippa is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Research at the University of Hull. She joined the University of Hull in 2023 having previously worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Kent and worked extensively in mental health research within the NHS. Philippa holds a Medical Research Council funded PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health from University College London and is a qualified mental health nurse.
Philippa's research focusses on improving care for people with alcohol-related cognitive impairment, from more effective identification to developing care pathways that better meet the needs of this population. She has received funding to complete systematic reviews of alcohol brief interventions for people with cognitive impairment (Institute of Alcohol Studies) and care approaches for people with alcohol-related cognitive impairment (Mental Health Research Incubator). She also received Higher Education Innovation Funding (HEIF) to deliver an exploratory prevalence study of cognitive impairment amongst hospital inpatients with an alcohol use disorder and develop key stakeholder and learning events on this topic. She has previously been involved in NIHR-funded projects evaluating specialist alcohol teams in hospital and alcohol assertive outreach treatment in community settings.
