About Dr Lucia Crowther
My academic background is in humanities and social sciences research, primarily exploring people's experiences of the built environment. I gained an MA in historic architecture from the University of Bologna in 2019, and joined the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre in 2020. As part of the Wolfson team I have worked on Applied Heath research studies including the CANAssess clinical trial and the SENTINEL project.
My PhD (awarded 2025) explored the architecture and design of hospices in England, combining approaches from Human Geography and Applied Health to show how the designs of hospice buildings impact people's experiences of giving and receiving palliative care.
