After studying French and German at the University of Ulster, Ann spent a number of years working in industry in Brussels.

She then trained as a teacher of modern foreign languages at the University of Leeds, before going on to work as a teacher in the East Riding of Yorkshire and then the Doncaster area, where she was a head of year for a number of years.

Since 2012 Ann has taught on, and more recently led, the University's Subject Knowledge Enhancement course in French as well as teaching on the Modern Languages PGCE programme.
