Embedding our resources in Canvas

Collections, Learning and Research (CLR) provide a series of ready-made SkillsGuides for use in Canvas. SkillsGuides content covers:

• Study & learning
• Writing & assessment
• Research
• Technology & software

SkillsGuides are delivered by our LibGuides system which seamlessly embeds the requested content into the modules area of your Canvas course. You can embed a whole guide or just a single page making this a very quick and flexible way to bring content into Canvas. Full instructions on how to do this are shown in the video on this page.

Skills for Study is based on the work of expert Stella Cottrell, international bestselling author of The Study Skills Handbook. It delivers effective study skills support for students. Skills for Study is an interactive platform that engages and develops learners. Skills for Study can be integrated into any Canvas course and works very well for foundation and first year students. The University of Hull subscribes to the following modules:

• Time management
• Reading and note-making
• Critical thinking skills
• Writing skills
• Referencing and understanding plagiarism
• Group work and presentations
