Ways to experience the University of Hull

Exchange student programme

If your institution has an exchange agreement with us, you can come to Hull as an international exchange student.

Visiting student programme

If your university does not have an exchange agreement, you can still apply directly to the University of Hull as an international visiting student.

Modules to suit you

To make sure you get the most out of your study abroad experience at the University of Hull, we work with you or your home institution to decide the modules which are right for you.

Choosing your modules

You’ll study three modules per semester. We will also ask you to identify some additional modules in case some modules are not available during your time with us. After we receive your application, we will share further details on how to apply for your modules.

Browse our courses for a flavour of what modules are included in our degrees. For more details on a specific module or more information on what modules may complement your studies, contact us at incoming-mobility@hull.ac.uk.

Module exceptions

Psychology or Law modules are only available where a direct agreement exists between your department within your university and the University of Hull.

Certain Social Work and Youth and Community Development modules are unavailable due to DBS checks required to work with vulnerable adults and children.

Unfortunately, we do not offer exchange opportunities on our Medicine programmes.

Credits for modules

You should take 60 credits per semester. This usually equates to three modules, although there are some language courses that are only 10 credits. The total number of credits you should take are:

  • Full year: 120 credits (equivalent to 60 ECTS credits)
  • One semester: 60 credits (equivalent to 30 ECTS credits)

Credit and grade conversions

Credit and grade conversions differ between universities and countries. Our team can provide general advice to help guide you through this. It’s important to check with your home university how they will transfer the marks you receive at Hull.

Your fees and associated costs

If you are an exchange student, you will not pay tuition fees to the University of Hull. If in doubt, you should speak to your home institution to confirm tuition fee arrangements.

If you are looking to join us as a visiting student, independent of your home institution, you will pay a fee that is pro-rata to your length of study.

If you are unsure whether you are an exchange student or visiting student, or would like more details on fees and the kind of studies we offer, please contact incoming-mobility@hull.ac.uk
