About Helen Cross
Helen Cross is the author of four novels including My Summer of Love, which became an award-winning movie starring Emily Blunt. Her short stories are regularly published in magazines and anthologies, including most recently The Manchester Review, Popshot and in 2024 two acclaimed anthologies, Digbeth Stories and Night Time Economy published by Floodgate Press. She is the recipient of fellowships and scholarships from Arts Council of England, The British Council, Cove Park, and Banff Centre for Arts, Canada.
Helen has written audio for BBC radio for over twenty years and is currently writing podcast dramas including two seasons of the acclaimed BBC Limelight series English Rose, which was shortlisted for Best Original Series in the 2025 BBC Audio Drama Awards. Her latest BBC Audio Drama is the Afternoon Play, Flixborough 74. Her prose story about Branwell Bronte and an affair of 1843, Mrs Robinson, was broadcast in five parts on BBC Radio 4 in September 2025.
