Dr Jacqui Bartram (She/Her) – Academic & library specialist

Specialism: Visual literacy

Jax2Jacqui has a degree in genetics and a Doctorate in Education (EdD), she is also a qualified teacher for adult education and has over 30 years’ experience working in ICT training and learning development, with specialised knowledge in using presentation software. Her doctorate looked at bridges and barriers to developing visual literacy in undergraduate students and she is keen to help staff develop visually-rich assessments and support students to develop the skills they need to excel in these. She is an ALDinHE Certified Leading Practitioner, trained supervisor for PASS (Peer Assisted Student Success), an NVivo Certified Expert and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. 

 

Dr Matt Crofts (He/Him) – Academic & Library Specialist

Specialism: Postgraduate taught

MattMatt has a BA in English and History, an MA in English Literature, and a doctorate in Gothic literature. He has published academic reviews and articles across peer reviewed journals and edited collections, as well as presenting research at international conferences. Matt is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has taught at undergraduate and master’s level. His specialism is supporting postgraduate students and he has worked with the Doctoral College to support PhD students and facilitate writing workshops and bootcamps. 

 

Kerry Dodd (She/Her) – Academic & Library Specialist

Specialism: Academic literacy

Kerry2Kerry has a degree in Sport and Exercise Science, postgraduate certificates in both Academic Practice and Professional Management in Higher Education and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Hull. She is a Chartered Manager, an ALDinHE Certified Practitioner and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. As a trained Peer Assisted Student Success (PASS) Supervisor, she takes a leading role in managing the PASS programme. Kerry is particularly interested in how peer learning can support academic and student success as well as supporting students to develop academic and critical thinking skills

 

Sara Hastings (she/Her) – Academic & Library Specialist

Specialism: Information literacy

Sara2Sara has a degree in English Literature and an MA in Library and Information Management. She has worked in the Brynmor Jones Library for nearly 30 years in a variety of roles including Assistant Librarian for the Hull York Medical School, Academic Liaison Librarian and is now an Academic & Library Specialist. Sara is particularly interested in information literacy and using the Library’s resources to find information. She is an ALDinHE Certified Practitioner, a trained PASS (Peer Assisted Student Success) Supervisor and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. 

 

Jess Lewis (She/Her) – Skills Team Graduate Intern

JessJess graduated from the University of Hull in 2021 with a degree in English and Philosophy. After finishing her 10-week Social Media internship in the Library, Jess moved into her current role in November 2022. She has particular interests in making the Skills Team’s online resources accessible to all users and promoting the Library spaces and services through a variety of social media. 

  

 

Chris Skerrow (he/Him) – Academic & Library Specialist

Specialism: Digital literacy

ChrisChris has an MA in English, a postgraduate diploma in Information and Library Studies and an MSc in eLearning. He’s worked for over 30 years in academic libraries, supporting students and staff with their information and digital skills. Chris is a chartered member of CILIP and a Microsoft Certified Educator. His digital specialism means he takes a lead in helping students get to grips with academic software. 

 

 

Conor Start (he/Him) – Academic & Library Specialist

Specialism: Peer Assisted Student Success (PASS)

ConorConor is a graduate of the University of Hull with a degree in History. Originally starting in construction, he had a career change and became the Skills Team Graduate Intern in March 2021, with a strong focus on peer learning. Conor has trained as a PASS Supervisor and is now the dedicated PASS Coordinator, managing the day-to-day operation of the peer learning scheme.  

 

 

Fiona Ware (She/Her) – Academic & Library Specialist

Specialism: Information literacy

Fiona graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Information and Library Studies, later going on to become a Chartered member of the Library Association (now CILIP). She has worked in higher education libraries for almost 30 years, working previously as an Academic Liaison Librarian for the majority of her career. Fiona has specialised knowledge in information search skills and in particular systematic reviews, having worked in research teams at the University of Hull producing Cochrane reviews. She is an ALDinHE Certified Practitioner, a trained PASS Supervisor and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
