Book a seat

If you need access to a personal study environment, you can book a specific seat in Brynmor Jones Library. We are able to offer seats with or without a computer for booking. If you book a desk without a computer, please note that our laptop loans service is currently unavailable. If you require a device, you will need to bring your own. 

All of our bookable seats are numbered by their floor, space and location. Face coverings are required from 8th August in line with government recommendations.On arrival, a member of staff will direct you towards your seat. If you want to know where your seat is located, choose a location under 'book a seat' to see the associated map.

Service availability 

At this time we are unable to offer bookable seats to Sconul or Associate Members.

The Library will be providing bookable study space Monday-Friday 09:30-16:30.

Item reservations can be made by using Search the Library. Select request/reserve a print copy and login using your university user ID and password. An email confirmation will be recieved along with a secondary email confiming items are ready for collection. Books can be collected from the south entrance (cafe side) Monday-Friday 09.30-16.30. 

Returns can also be made at the south entrance (cafe side) Monday-Friday 09:30-16:30.

The building will not be accessible on 11th-14th August, however, you can still reach us on those days through Live Chat and Self Service Portal

On the day of your seat booking

Please enter the Library through the south entrance (cafe side) with a face covering. A member of staff will be located inside the entrance. They will confirm your booked appointment and direct you towards your study space. Bookings will be required for entry.

To prevent queues, please arrive at your allocated appointment time. We reserve the right to cancel any book a seat appointments not attended within one hour of an expected arrival time. If you require a change to your scheduled appointment, please contact us via Livechat, Facebook or Twitter. 

Please observe social distancing during your visit. We will be operating one-way directional walkways throughout the building. Please follow directional signage to your reserved study space. Marked printers will be available for use. If, during your stay, you require any Library materials, please contact us via Livechat, Facebook, Twitter or email We will aim to retrieve materials for you within two hours and these will be available for pick-up from our south entrance.

Toilet facilities will be clearly marked and available on each floor. Hand sanitising units will be placed throughout the building for your use. At this time, the Library cafe will not be open for business or seating. Face coverings are required from 8th August in line with government recommendations.
