Recall and reserve

If the item you need is on loan you can sometimes recall the item and/or reserve it for yourself when it is returned. You can also reserve items that are on the shelf for later collection.

What can I reserve/recall?

Any loanable item may be reserved. Items on loan for more than seven days may be recalled from the current borrower.

How do I reserve/recall an item?

Reservations can be made via the library catalogue or by phone.

When searching the library catalogue you will see a button at the top of the screen that says ‘Request item’. Click on this link and complete the form with your user ID and password.

You will receive an e-mail telling you the item is ready for collection.

Where do I collect the item?

When the item is ready for collection it will be placed on the ‘Reserved Items’ shelf in the Reading Room, filed under your surname/family name.

You can then issue the item to yourself using the self-service machine.
