About this award

The Global Masters Fund 2025/26 offers up to 20 awards, each worth £1,000 (applied as a tuition fee waiver), to international students pursuing postgraduate taught programmes at the University of Hull starting in September 2025, January 2026 and May 2026.

The awards aim to empower global changemakers, forward-thinkers, innovators, and advocates in health, arts, science, and leadership.

The awards are designed to celebrate exceptional students across four categories:

  • Creators of Change Award – Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Education (5 awards)
  • Future Leaders Award – Faculty of Business, Law and Politics (5 awards)
  • Science & Sustainability Award – Faculty of Science and Engineering (5 awards)
  • Champions of Health Award – Faculty of Health Sciences (5 awards)

Eligibility

This award is for applicants who are interested in studying a full-time, postgraduate taught programme (1 year) starting in September 2025, January 2026 and May 2026 (excluding PGCert and PGDip).

The Global Masters Fund 2025/26 is open to international students from countries which are classed as upper-middle or high income countries by the World Bank. This includes countries across the Americas, Europe, the Gulf, and Central, East and South East Asia.

Please note, postgraduate applicants can only hold one financial award from the University of Hull. Therefore, applicants already benefiting from one of the University's automatic international studentships (Africa StudentshipAsia StudentshipMiddle East and North Africa Studentship or Latin America Studentship) are not eligible to apply.

It is applicable to self-funded students who are not receiving financial sponsorship from a government or commercial sponsorship body.

If you have been awarded a scholarship, you will be notified in writing. Students must respond to the initial email within 72 hours of being awarded the scholarship and the student must pay the deposit (£4,000) within three weeks of the scholarship announcement. If a response and the deposit have not been received, the award may be given to another applicant.

First Round Applications: 30 April 2025 at midnight (UK time)

Second Round Applications: 30 June 2025 at midnight (UK time)

Third Round Applications (for January 2026 entry): 30 November 2025 at midnight (UK time)

Fourth Round Applications (for May 2026 entry): 31 March 2026 midnight (UK time)

Please note that while we aim to allocate five awards per category, the final distribution may vary based on the quality of applications received.

How to apply

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Apply for a Postgraduate Programme: Submit your application for a postgraduate taught programme starting in September 2025, January 2026 and May 2026 at the University of Hull (excluding PGCert and PGDip).
  • Accept Your Offer: Receive and accept a conditional or unconditional offer of study.
  • Complete the Award Application Form: Share with us a short personal statement about your ambitions (300-400 words).
