About this course

You’ll work hands-on with the technologies shaping the future of business and public policy, including machine learning, data analytics and generative AI. From consumer behaviour and inflation to growth and government policy, you’ll learn how to apply advanced analytical tools to real economic challenges.

The World Economic Forum identifies analytical thinking and AI literacy as two of the most important skills for the future workforce. This course develops both - combining economic expertise with technical capability and practical problem-solving.

Designed for graduates from economics, STEM and other quantitative disciplines, the programme offers a fast-track route into a high-demand field. If you’re new to coding, you’ll build confidence quickly through supportive, hands-on Python workshops - including our popular welcome-week “cup of tea” coding session.

Teaching is practical, interactive and industry-focused. Through computer-based workshops, active learning and authentic assessments, you’ll develop the skills employers value most -  analysing data, writing reports, building code and communicating insight effectively.

You’ll study in our £4.5 million Centre of Excellence for Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Modelling (DAIM), purpose-built for high-performance computing, collaboration and innovation.

Graduate from the University of Hull with the technical skills, economic insight and digital fluency sought by employers across government, finance, consulting, technology and international organisations.
