About Dr Mehdi Zeinali
Dr Mehdi Zeinali is a Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Hull, where he has been based since October 2025. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules including Electrical Machines and Drives and Smart Grids, while supervising both BSc and MSc research projects. He is also actively involved in doctoral research supervision and currently supervises two PhD students whose research focuses on advanced EEG signal processing, biomedical data analytics, and intelligent healthcare technologies.
Dr Zeinali holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, specialising in signal processing and communications for smart grid applications. He also holds an MSc in Wireless Communications from Lund University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCLTHE). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a member of both the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
Prior to joining the University of Hull, Dr Zeinali served as a Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University and Nottingham Trent University, where he led and taught modules in communications, digital electronics, modelling and simulation, renewable energy technologies, and smart grids. Throughout his academic career, he has supervised numerous undergraduate, master's, and doctoral research projects.
Dr Zeinali has authored and Co-authored numerous journal and conference publications in smart grid communications, energy systems, IoT technologies, and digital twin frameworks. His current research focuses on developing intelligent communication and control solutions for future energy networks, advancing digital twin technologies for EV charging infrastructure, and integrating advanced communication systems into smart and sustainable energy environments.
