About Dr Ahsan Khan
Dr. Ahsan Raza Khan is a Lecturer in the Department of Engineering at the University of Hull, specialising in edge computing, federated learning, and AI-driven solutions for next-generation communication and energy systems. He holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Glasgow (2024), where his research focused on federated learning for intelligent applications. Prior to joining Hull, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of York (2024–2025) on the EPSRC-funded CHEDDAR Hub, developing digital twins and privacy-preserving AI architectures for distributed cloud computing. Dr. Khan has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications (h-index: 19), including 14 Q1 journal articles in leading venues such as IEEE Transactions, Nature Scientific Reports, and Elsevier. His applied research spans IoT-enabled smart grids, embedded machine learning, and vision-aided wireless networks, with real-world deployments including energy monitoring systems, LPWAN benchmarking, and gaze-tracking analytics. He brings over five years of teaching experience across power systems, embedded systems, and AI for wireless communications, having supervised numerous capstone projects and delivered innovative, student-centred curricula. A holder of the UKRI-endorsed Global Talent Visa and recipient of the Best Paper Award at IEEE GPECOM 2022, Dr. Khan is committed to impactful research, inclusive pedagogy, and interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing intelligent, sustainable technologies.
