About Dr David Furnues

Dr David Furnues is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Hull, based in the Energy and Environment Institute (EEI). He works on a collaborative project with RSA Insurance to advance Property Level Flood Resilience (PFR), developing innovative testing regimes and rating systems that reflect real-world flood risk and insurance needs.

With a multidisciplinary background spanning fluid mechanics, geography, education, and global politics, David brings a systems-level perspective to climate adaptation and urban resilience. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a member of IAHR and the Institute of Leadership. His research spans multiple disciplines, including work in International Relations with the United Nations University – Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS), as well as peer-reviewed publications in fluid mechanics.
