About Dr Clara Bosch March

Dr Clara Bosch March is a researcher on European human rights law, migration and refugee law. She joined the School of Criminology, Politics and Law in September 2025, where she teaches both in the graduate and postgraduate programmes. This academic year (2025/2026), Dr Bosch March is teaching in Systems of Justice, Human Rights and International Law, and International Protection of Refugees.

Prior to joining the University of Hull, Dr Bosch March completed her PhD at the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the University of Galway (2025), where she also obtained an LL.M in International Human Rights Law (First Class Honours) in 2020. She conducted her PhD under the Research Ireland (formerly Irish Research Council) Postgraduate Scholarship, granted by the Government of Ireland, and the Hardiman PhD scholarship, granted by the University of Galway.

Dr Bosch March has published her research in leading international journals such as the Journal of Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Law, the European Law Review, the European Human Rights Law Review, the European Convention on Human Rights Law Review, and the Netherlands Quarterly of Human Rights, and has been invited to act as a peer reviewer in others, such as the International Journal of Law in Context. She has also presented her research at high-profile international conferences, including at the European Human Rights Conference (University of Cambridge, September 2023), the ADiM-IntoME Migration Conference (University of Tuscia, May 2024), or the Annual Conference of the Society of Legal Scholars (University of Bristol, September 2024). She received commendation for one of the ten best papers submitted to the Jonathan Cooper OBE Prize to the Best Paper by an Early Career Scholar at the European Human Rights Conference (University of Cambridge, September 2023), and won the First Prize in the Dissertation Prize organised by the Journal of Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Law (2021).

Her PhD thesis, entitled 'The jurisprudential development of the prohibition of collective expulsion of aliens under Article 4 of Protocol No. 4 of the European Convention on Human Rights’, made up of six journal articles, was the first article-based PhD ever defended at the School of Law of the University of Galway. Dr Bosch March won the Early Completion Prize at the University of Galway for submitting her thesis five months ahead of schedule, and passed her viva without corrections.
