Dr Carmino Massarella

Carmino worked in private practice in civil litigation before coming to Hull to pursue an interest in Public International Law. His research focuses on aspects of the law of the sea, including piracy and maritime security.

About Dr Carmino Massarella

Dr Massarella’s research interests lie in the field of Public International Law in general, the Law of the Sea, and International Criminal Law. He is especially interested in the regulation of activities in the ocean space, especially piracy and maritime security. He has presented papers at a number of international conferences, including the International Law Association (British Branch) Spring Conference and the European Society of International Law (ESIL) Research Forum.

His teaching is currently focused on Public International Law at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and International Criminal Justice as part of the LLM programme. He has also taught a range of other subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as being involved in the supervision of doctoral students.

Dr Massarella is currently the Law School’s Postgraduate (Taught) Programme Director.
