About Dr Giada Giacomini
I am a researcher and lecturer specialising in international environmental law, climate change law and policy, human rights–based approaches to climate change, and the accountability of international organisations, with a particular interest in climate-vulnerable communities. I am the author of Indigenous Peoples and Climate Justice: A Critical Analysis of International Human Rights Law (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022).
Before joining Hull, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID) and a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute (2022–2023). Previous research appointments include positions at the Italian National Research Council, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, and Eurac Research.
I have held visiting positions at several institutions, including the American University in Washington D.C. (July 2024), the University of Lapland in Finland (March 2023), and the Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law and Governance (2018 and 2019). In 2021, I completed a six-month internship with the Independent Redress Mechanism of the Green Climate Fund in South Korea.
I hold a PhD in Public International Law, with a focus on international order and human rights.
