Foundation

For Business, Law, Computer Science and Engineering courses:

Our Business, Law and Engineering foundation courses are run by our partner ONCAMPUS Hull. For further information regarding entry qualifications see the ONCAMPUS website.

For all other foundation courses:

For admission onto our foundation course we generally accept the following qualifications and grades:

Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) with minimum grades of CCD

If your first language is not English, or you require a student visa to study, you will be required to provide evidence of your English language proficiency level. Find out more.

Undergraduate

For admission onto the first year of an undergraduate bachelors degree course we generally accept the following qualifications and grades:

Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of three principal passes (A-C)
UEC (Unified Examination Certificate) Senior Middle Level with an average grade of B6 or above
Holders of Penang Development Council (PSDC) Diploma will be considered for advanced entry

International Baccalaureate Diploma with a range of 28 – 30
We also accept students who have completed a US high school curriculum

We sometimes require subject specific grades, we will advise you of this in your offer letter.

If you do not hold one of the qualifications above, we still encourage you to submit an application. All applications will be reviewed on an individual basis.

If you wish to study with us starting from the second or final year, we are happy to consider applicants who have completed equivalent prior study. These applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Postgraduate Taught

The majority of our taught Masters programmes require that you hold a qualification equivalent to a lower second-class Bachelor Honours (or 2.2). Please check our course pages for specific entry requirements.

We generally consider a Bachelors degree awarded by a nationally recognised higher education institution in Malaysia to be comparable to a UK Bachelor Honours degree.

If awarded by a recognised private institution, the programme must be accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and registered within the Malaysian Qualifications Register.

Lower second-class (2.2) equivalent
GPA 2.5 out of 4

Upper second-class (2.1) equivalent
GPA 3.0 out of 4

If you hold Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma we encourage you to apply, including your prior qualification with your application, as we may be able to accept you for entry onto our Master programme.

The majority of our research Masters programmes and PhDs require that you hold a qualification equivalent to an upper second-class Bachelor Honours (or 2.1), although some programmes, especially PhDs may have higher entry requirements. Please check our course pages for specific entry requirements.
