Foundation

For Business, Law, Computer Science and Engineering courses:

Our Business, Law and Engineering foundation courses are run by our partner ONCAMPUS Hull. For further information regarding entry qualifications see the ONCAMPUS website.

For all other foundation courses:

For admission onto our foundation course we generally accept the following qualifications and grades:

香港中學文憑 (Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)) with a minimum grade of 3, 4, 4

If your first language is not English, or you require a student visa to study, you will be required to provide evidence of your English language proficiency level. Find out more.

Undergraduate

For admission onto the first year of an undergraduate bachelors degree course, we generally accept the following qualifications and grades:

香港中學文憑 (Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)) - You will need to achieve grades ranging from 433-554. Subject-specific requirements may apply.
International Baccalaureate Diploma with a range of 28 – 30

We also accept students who have completed a US high school curriculum.

We sometimes require subject specific grades, we will advise you of this in your offer letter.

If you do not hold one of the qualifications above, we still encourage you to apply. All applications will be reviewed on an individual basis.

If you wish to study with us starting from the second or final year, we are happy to consider applicants who have completed equivalent prior study. These applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Postgraduate Taught

The majority of our taught Masters programmes require that you hold a qualification equivalent to a lower second-class Bachelor Honours (or 2.2). Please check our course pages for specific entry requirements.

We generally accept Bachelor Honours degree or Bachelor degree in medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine awarded by a nationally recognised higher education institution in Hong Kong to be comparable to a UK Bachelor Honours degree.

Degree classification directly compares to that in the UK. We accept Second Class (Division 2) Honours for programmes requiring 2.2 and Second Class (Division 1) Honours for programmes with 2.1 entry requirement.

We also accept some applicable pre-masters programmes, please contact pgadmissions@hull.ac.uk to confirm if your programme is eligible.

The majority of our research Masters programmes and PhDs require that you hold a qualification equivalent to an upper second-class Bachelor Honours (or 2.1), although some programmes, especially PhDs may have higher entry requirements. Please check our course pages for specific entry requirements.

Degree classification directly compares to that in the UK. We accept Second Class (Division 1) Honours for programmes with 2.1 entry requirement and First Class Honours for programmes requiring British First Class Honours degree for entry.
