Foundation

For Business, Law, Computer Science and Engineering courses:

Our Business, Law and Engineering foundation courses are run by our partner ONCAMPUS Hull. For further information regarding entry qualifications see the ONCAMPUS website.

For all other foundation courses:

For admission onto our foundation course we generally accept the following qualifications and grades:

• Completion of Senior Secondary School Year 3 with a 60% average grade.
• Completion of Senior Secondary School Year 2 with 70% average grade.
  
  

If your first language is not English, or you require a student visa to study, you will be required to provide evidence of your English language proficiency level. Find out more.

Undergraduate

For admission onto the first year of an undergraduate bachelors degree course we generally accept the following qualifications and grades:

• National College Entrance Examination (NCEE or Gaokao) with a minimum grade of 67%
• General Graduation Examination (Huikao) with a minimum grade of 77%
• Senior High School Diploma with an average grade of 80% over 3 years.
• Successful completion of a Specialist College Diploma (Zhongzhuan) with a minimum grade of 80%
• Successful completion of a Vocational Secondary School Diploma (Zhixiao) with a minimum grade of 80%
• Successful completion of the Year 1 of a Dazhuan (including Gaozhi and Gaozhuan) Diploma with a minimum grade of 75%
• Successful completion of the Year 1 of a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum grade of 70%
• International Baccalaureate Diploma with a range of 28 – 30
• We also accept students who have completed a US high school curriculum
  
  

We sometimes require subject specific grades, we will advise you of this in your offer letter.

If you do not hold one of the qualifications above, we still encourage you to submit an application. All applications will be reviewed on an individual basis.

If you wish to study with us starting from the second or final year, we are happy to consider applicants who have completed equivalent prior study. These applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Postgraduate Taught

The majority of our taught Masters programmes require that you hold a qualification equivalent to a lower second-class Bachelor Honours (or 2.2). Please check our course pages for specific entry requirements.

We generally consider Bachelor degree 学士学位 awarded by a nationally recognised higher education institution in China to be comparable to a UK Bachelor Honours degree.

Lower second-class (2.2) equivalent
Overall grade of 70%
We may be able to accept a minimum grade of 65% if you have studied at a prestigious University as defined by the Ministry of Education.

Upper second-class (2.1) equivalent
Overall grade of 75 %
We may be able to accept a minimum grade of 70% if you have studied at a prestigious University as defined by the Ministry of Education.

If you hold a self-taught Bachelor degree, we may ask for a higher grade. Please apply so that we can evaluate your qualification on individual basis.

The majority of our research Masters programmes and PhDs require that you hold a qualification equivalent to an upper second-class Bachelor Honours (or 2.1), although some programmes, especially PhDs may have higher entry requirements. Please check our course pages for specific entry requirements.

We generally consider Bachelor degree 学士学位 awarded by a nationally recognised higher education institution in China to be comparable to a UK Bachelor Honours degree.
