About this award

The Department for Education, in partnership with the British Council, has launched the Warm Welcome Scholarship Scheme to support individuals in the UK with links to Afghanistan to access higher education. The University of Hull is proud to be able to participate in this award.

The scheme will offer scholarships for eligible students already studying in the UK (In-Year Scholarships) and to new students starting a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme in the academic year 2022/23 (Full Degree Scholarships).

When evaluating applications, the British Council will prioritise selected subjects.

The University of Hull will offer up to five Full Degree Scholarships across our undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research degrees.


2022 Full Degree Scholarships
 

These scholarships will be awarded as tuition fee waivers by the University. Scholars will also receive a maintenance stipend funded by the Department for Education. Maintenance funding will be paid to scholars on a quarterly basis for the duration of their studies (maximum of 3 years for undergraduate and PhD; maximum of 1 year for postgraduate taught).

  • 1 x undergraduate award

  • 1 x postgraduate research (PhD) award

If you have already applied or are holding an offer please reach out to our teams so you can be considered to be put forward for a Warm Welcome scholarship.

Eligibility

To be considered for the Warm Welcome Scheme Full Degree Scholarships, you will need to:

  • have applied for a full time degree programme at the University of Hull and be eligible for entry for the course
  • informed the University of Hull you would like to be put forward for this award
  • fall into one of the following residency status categories:
  1. Afghanistan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) resettlement route.
  2. Afghanistan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) resettlement route.
  3. Those with links to Afghanistan who are already registered at a UK university and are experiencing financial hardship due to the situation in Afghanistan.
  4. Afghan British Nationals (ABNs), described for these purposes as those that were evacuated during Operation Pitting and who entered bridging accommodation or who presented as homeless to a council, but hold British citizenship or some other status that permits them to remain and reside in the UK without the need to be granted leave to remain.
