About this course

Choose a career-driven degree and do real business from day one at Hull University Business School.

Here, we focus on applying what you learn to real business situations – through projects, case studies and industry collaborations. In fact, you’ll work on projects with local companies right from your first year.

We’ve also got specialist HRM modules covering subjects like employee relations, learning and development, and the organisational context of HRM to give you a solid foundation for a career in management.

Your degree will be independently accredited by the AACSB and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), giving you the foundation to be a qualified business professional.

In fact, thanks to the quality of the accreditations our courses hold, you’ll have significant exemptions from essential exams, meaning a faster route to professional qualifications, because you graduate already part-qualified – and you could start on a higher salary.

Placement year

Industry placements take place over a full academic year. This extends a standard undergraduate degree from three to four years, with placement taking place in year three. Once you've completed your placement year, you’ll return to complete the final year of your degree at the University of Hull.

A placement year is a great way to gain industry experience, boost your CV, and potentially earn a salary. Placements must last at least 40 weeks and can start any time after June, once second-year assessments are complete. At Hull, we’re connected with global companies like Bosch, BMW, Siemens, and Disney, giving you the chance to apply your skills in real-world settings, explore career options, and return to your final year with valuable experience and confidence.

Module options

Each year, you’ll study modules worth a certain number of credits, and you need 120 credits per year. Most modules are 20 credits – so you’ll study six modules each year. Some longer modules, such as a dissertation, are worth more. In these cases, you’ll study fewer modules - but the number of credits will always add up to 120. Some modules are compulsory, some are optional, so you can build a course that’s right for you.
