About the Centre for Idealism and the New Liberalism
Idealism is a philosophical and reformist movement that flourished from the late-nineteenth century onwards. It led to the New Liberal governments of early twentieth-century Britain. These movements had global reach and grew out the idealist political philosophies of Plato and Aristotle.
Since its creation by James Connelly and Colin Tyler in 2007, the Centre for Idealism and the New Liberalism has established itself as the leading global centre for research into British idealism, New Liberalism, and related idealist thought and practice. CINL publishes widely in the field, as well as organising international conferences and seminars, and hosting visiting PGRs and scholars from across the world.
