Current events in the Middle East - advice to students and staff
As a globally connected university we recognise that current events across the Middle East will be of deep concern to many students and staff, particularly those with friends and family in the affected region.
We are actively working to support the wellbeing of all students and staff who may be affected, offering guidance and practical support, and closely monitoring developments and considering the needs of our University community.
We have suspended all travel on university business to those destinations affected by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advice against “all” or “all but essential” travel. We are asking all colleagues intending to travel on business or otherwise to countries currently not affected, to follow FCDO advice.
We have reached out to our students outlining the support available, and in particular that they can access confidential 24/7 support through our Student Assistance Programme (SAP). Wider support is available to students through the University’s Hubble Portal.
We are contacting staff currently overseas and affected by these events to ensure they have access to the wellbeing support we are providing. As we continue to monitor closely these developing events the University of Hull reaffirms our commitment to respond with understanding, empathy and support.
