A University on the rise, Hull jumps 28 places in The Guardian University Guide

These results build on a series of recent successes in national university rankings.

In June, the Complete University Guide placed the University of Hull among the UK's top 20 institutions for student satisfaction, while last month the Daily Mail recognised Hull as Yorkshire's leading university for graduate outcomes. Together, these results reflect the University's continued progress across student experience, academic quality and graduate success.

Professor John Craig, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) said: “This year's performance in The Guardian rankings is something the whole University community should be really proud of.

“It highlights the University's sustained excellence across a wide range of disciplines and reflects the dedication, expertise and commitment of colleagues who support our students to succeed”

The results also showcase outstanding performance at subject level.

Among the highest-performing subjects, Social Work ranked 7th out of 78 institutions nationally and Education ranked 10th out of 90 institutions nationally. Medicine at Hull York Medical School was also placed in the UK's top 10, ranking 10th out of 40 institutions.

A further four subjects also achieved top 20 positions: Physiotherapy ranked 12th, English placed 17th, and both Chemical Engineering and Children’s Nursing were ranked 19th.

Professor John Craig continued: “The subject level results really demonstrate the quality of the teaching and learning that students can expect when they choose to study at Hull.

“With more subjects now ranked among the UK's best, these results highlight Hull's strong teaching, high-quality education and growing reputation nationally for excellence across a wide range of subjects.”

The 2027 Complete University Guide ranks Hull 18th out of 130 institutions for student satisfaction, second in the Yorkshire and Humber region.

The Daily Mail University Guide’s Career on Track, a measure of graduate progress 15 months after leaving University relative to their expectations, places Hull first in Yorkshire and 22nd out of 128 institutions. a year-on-year jump of 46 places.

The Daily Mail’s measure of graduates in managerial or leaderships positions 15 months after leaving university, recorded a leap for Hull from 85th to 45th.
