Coast-R Annual Forum 2025 | Co-creating Resilient Coasts

How can we work well together across interfaces to build more resilient coastal communities and seas?
Registrations are open for this two-day gathering of the Coast-R Network. The event aims to bring together researchers, community partners, practitioners, and policymakers to explore how we can collaborate to co-create more resilient coastal futures.
We’ll focus on working at interfaces – the meeting points between land and sea, research and practice, science and lived experience – to share insights, deepen relationships, and develop strategies for change.
What to expect
The Coast-R Annual Forum is an active, collaborative space to explore how we work across interfaces to build coastal resilience.
Over two days, you’ll engage in a mix of workshops, creative activities, and reflective discussions, drawing on diverse case studies and lived experiences from across the UK.
Day 1
The first day features a keynote address and interactive workshops, including a pre-mortem exercise and a radical futures session led by Culture for Climate Scotland. The day ends with a relaxed networking reception.
Day 2
The second day opens with short presentations from the Resilient Coastal Communities and Seas (RECCS) projects, followed by a roundtable on working across interfaces. You’ll then choose from hands-on sessions exploring creative, technical, and policy-focused approaches to resilience.
About the the Coast-R Network
The Coast-R Network is led by the University of Hull, in partnership with the University of Glasgow (our event hosts), Aberystwyth University, the University of Leeds, the University of Liverpool and Southampton University.
The Network brings together academics, UK marine, coastal and government agencies, industry partners, local authorities, the voluntary sector and communities most affected by coastal change. It's an inclusive and collaborative community of practice working to build knowledge, action and resilience for UK coastal communities and seas.
