Register for your ceremony

When you're eligible to graduate, we'll send you an email inviting you to register for your ceremony.

You’ll only be allowed to graduate if your award has been formally approved and any debts due to the University have been paid.

Virtual attendance

If you would like to attend your ceremony virtually, please indicate this on your registration form. You will receive a link to join the ceremony and will be displayed on screen when your name is read out.

Accessibility

If you have specific accessibility requirements, please complete the relevant section on the online booking form or contact registry@hull.ac.uk as soon as possible.

Lift access to all upper floors is available for guests with mobility difficulties. Students will be able to access the stage by lift or ramp and this will be discussed with you before the ceremony. A British Sign Language interpreter is present at all ceremonies.

Plan your travel and accommodation

The graduation ceremonies are being held at Connexin Live, Myton St, Hull, HU1 2PS. The Connexin Live arena is in the heart of Hull city centre, and is easily accessible by car and public transport.

If you are currently outside the UK

If you want to attend your Graduation ceremony but are no longer in the UK and your Tier 4 or Student Visa has expired, please apply for a Standard Visitor visa – unless you do not need a visa for short visits to the UK.

When applying, you may need to show your Graduation ceremony invitation, which will be emailed to you. If your family members are also applying for a Standard Visitor visa, they can include a copy of your emailed Graduation ceremony invite in their application.

If you are no longer in the UK but your Tier 4 or Student Visa is still valid, you can use it to return to the UK for your ceremony. You may need to show your emailed Graduation ceremony invitation as proof of your reason for travel.

If you are currently inside the UK

If you have a visa and are in the UK and you would like family members to travel to join you at the Graduation ceremony, they also need to apply for a Standard Visitor visa (unless they do not need a visa to enter the UK for a short period or already have a different type of visa to travel to the UK).

As part of their application, they will need to provide a copy of your Graduation ceremony invite (email) and a letter written by you to them, inviting that person to accompany you to the ceremony. Please include a copy of your current Residence Permit with your invitation letter.

Order a gown

You can order your gown from Graduation Attire once you have registered for your ceremony.

Remember, only graduands wearing the correct gown will be permitted to take part in their ceremony.

There are options to buy your gown or extend your hire. Details of this are on the gowning website.

Order your photographs

Book your official graduation photography in advance to beat the queues.

You can browse the photography brochure at Graduation Attire and purchase your package before the event. This will speed up the process on the day. We advise that you have your photos taken before your ceremony if possible.

Order your guest tickets

Two weeks before your ceremony, you will receive a link to book your guests’ tickets through AXS, our external ticket provider.

We guarantee you will be able to invite six people. Two of these guests can attend free of charge. Additional tickets are £15. If you want to bring more than six people, we will be able to confirm if there is capacity after Sunday 15 June 2025.

Children under two years of age, who do not need their own seat, do not need a ticket.

Children

Graduation ceremonies are formal events and are at least 90 minutes long, potentially making them unsuitable for young children.

To ensure everyone enjoys the occasion without interruption, we offer a relaxed environment with a live stream of the ceremony at our dedicated Family Area at The Edge (located directly opposite Connexin Live).

Tickets for the Family Area are free and provided in addition to your main ceremony tickets, allowing younger children a space to enjoy the event comfortably. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note that guests who have tickets for the family area at The Edge will not be admitted to Connexin Live.

Accessibility

Guests with accessibility requirements can book accessible tickets via the AXS ticketing link when you book your guest tickets. If your guests need additional support for the events, please contact registry@hull.ac.uk.

Check your graduate ticket

You’ll be sent your graduate ticket via email on Tuesday 8 July. This will give you access to the arena and includes your seat number. If you have not received this, please email registry@hull.ac.uk.

Pay any outstanding debts

Debts to the University must be cleared before you can graduate. Contact our Fee Collection Service on 01482 462222, email studentdebt@hull.ac.uk or raise an enquiry in MyHull.

The deadline for paying debts to the University to graduate is Wednesday 4 June 2025.
