Follow this step-by-step guide for everything you need to know about applying for an inbound exchange or study abroad experience at the University of Hull.
You can study at Hull for a semester or a full academic year. If you are joining us as part of an exchange check with your home university first about how long you can study with us.

Exchange students: If your University has an agreement with the University of Hull, ask your University to contact us to inform us that you are interested in coming to Hull to study for one or two semesters. After we approve your nomination you can continue with the rest of the application process.
Visiting students: If your home University does not have a formal agreement with the University of Hull, email your expression of interest to come and study at Hull to Incomingfirstname.lastname@example.org. Please give details of your home university, subjects studied, level of study and how long you would like to spend at the University of Hull.
You will need these documents for your online application:
• A copy of your formal Nomination from your home University (if applicable)
• A photocopy of your passport
• A transcript of your results achieved so far. Please provide a separate list of all of the courses you have taken in the past indicating the grades you have achieved.
• A letter of recommendation from an academic member of staff at your university. The letter should describe how the member of staff knows you, why you are suitable for the course, and confirm you are in good academic standing.
• Evidence you meet the English language requirements
If your first language is not English you will need to provide evidence of your English proficiency. See examples of accepted tests.
Once your nomination or expression of interest has been received, we will email you a link to our online application form and provided you with further information about studying at the University of Hull.
If you are starting in September, applications open on 1 May and you must apply by 31 May.
If you are starting in January, applications open on 10 October and you must apply by 1 November.
You are likely to study three modules per semester, but we ask you to choose more modules in case some of your choices are not available. Take a look at our degree courses to find out more about modules relevant to your studies.
Most of our modules earn you 20 credits and you may take up to 60 credits per semester.
We will email you to confirm your place at the University of Hull and with details of what to do next, including how to apply for a visa (if applicable), accommodation and arrivals information.
Depending on your country of origin, you may need a visa to study in the UK. You can check if you need a visa on the UK Government website.
We will email you with information about visa applications and UK entry documents. The information you receive will depend on the length of your study and modules you have chosen.

We will email you information about accommodation options and how to apply for University accommodation. We will also share details on how and when you need to pay your fees if this is applicable.
On-campus accommodation is single person only and there is no on-campus provision for families.
The University does not offer childcare.
