Can I add a year abroad after I’ve started my course?
Often yes - many university students, including University of Hull students, move from the standard route (usually a three-year course) to a four-year course that includes a year abroad. This depends on your degree programme and eligibility.
Some degree programmes allow students on the standard route to transfer to a four-year course with a year abroad. This change is typically considered during your first or second year of study and is subject to:
- Your course structure
- Academic performance
- Availability of places at partner universities
If approved, you would move from the standard route to a four-year course, and your degree title may change (for example, from BA History to BA History with a Year Abroad).
Not all courses can accommodate a year abroad, and application deadlines apply, so students are strongly advised to contact their academic department or the Study Abroad team as early as possible.
