At Hull, Education, Teaching and Childhood Studies is part of the School of Education and Social Sciences, which sits in the Faculty of Arts, Cultures and Education COURSES Our strong partnerships with hundreds of schools, colleges, community organisations and early years settings give you the opportunity to apply theory to real-world situations. Foundation year Gives you the skills and knowledge for entry on to a degree if you don’t quite meet the academic entry requirements. Study abroad We have partnerships with universities across the globe. Depending on your course, you can study for one trimester, or a full year, in another country. Industrial placement Work in industry as part of your degree. Depending on your course, you can spend part of your degree on placement. See your course page for specific details. Integrated Masters Some courses combine undergraduate and postgraduate study. The integrated Masters year is an extra year after your standard degree. Undergraduate BA (Hons) Education Studies Available with: Make a real difference with work placements in schools and other settings – including the chance to study or undertake a placement abroad. BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education and Care (1 year top-up) Top up your foundation degree on a course that combines academic theory with fun and creative ways to encourage young children to participate in learning. FdA FD Early Childhood Studies This foundation degree is ideal for child-minders, pre-school learning leaders and early-years practitioners. Develop valuable knowledge while you work. BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies Available with: This programme is fully-focused on employability, enabling you to move straight into the early years workforce or postgraduate teacher education. BEd Education and Early Years (1 year top-up) Ideal for those aspiring for a professional role in the early education sector, this one-year course is a top-up for students with a foundation degree. BA (Hons) Education, Society and Culture (top-up) (part-time) Aimed at those working in an educational setting, you'll build on existing knowledge and understanding, examine educational issues and new ways of thinking BA (Hons) Education Studies, Social Inclusion and Special Needs This programme responds to the need for professionals in social, educational and administrative settings to have a broad knowledge of social inclusion. BA (Hons) TESOL and Education Studies This qualification will allow you to teach in language schools around the world. It also includes the chance to study or undertake a placement abroad. BA (Hons) Learning and Teaching (Primary QTS) (top-up) This course allows you to top-up to a full Honours degree as well as be recommended for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at Key Stages 1 and 2. BSc (Hons) Biology (with Teacher Training) Explore a broad range of topics in biology while gaining the skills and experience for a career in teaching. BA (Hons) Geography (with Teacher Training) Explore the social, economic and political processes in the developed and developing world while gaining the skills to inspire the next generation. MA in Education and Early Childhood This specialist programme focuses on policies, services, child development, early years pedagogy, and research in early childhood. Teacher training courses PGCE Primary 3-7 years This course covers Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1, with an emphasis on the quality of classrooms to accelerate learning and development. PGCE Primary 5-11 years Benefit from our relationships with over 150 infant, junior and primary schools, who are involved in the design of this programme, recruitment and training Primary Teaching This degree is a direct route into entry-level primary school teaching. PGCE Secondary English This Secondary PGCE programme is for those who wish to be an English subject specialist across the 11-16 age range. PGCE Secondary Modern Foreign Languages Become a Modern Foreign Languages teacher and provide pupils with valuable, lifelong skills that could shape their future careers. PGCE Secondary Physics Gain the skills to be a confident and confident physics teacher with this PGCE at Hull, with good science teacher employment opportunities on our doorstep. PGCE Secondary Physics with Maths Supported by the Institute of Physics and the Royal Academy of Engineering, learn to teach both physics and engineering, boosting your employability.
