The University of Hull is delighted to announce its annual Teaching and Learning Conference to be held online on the 9th July. This event is free to attend.
This year, we invite academics, students, practitioners, and professional services staff from across the sector to explore the theme of Collaboration and Community. As the higher education landscape evolves, fostering meaningful connections within and beyond our institutions is critical for enriching the student experience, supporting staff well-being, and addressing global challenges. As ever, we will also run an in-person event for local colleagues on Thursday 10th July along the same theme.
Conference Sub-Themes
The Conference programme is now available and offers a fabulous selection of workshops, discussion papers, Pecha Kuchas and infographics!
We look forward to exploring with you our presenters' innovative approaches, reflect on their research findings, and introduce case studies related to collaboration and community in teaching and learning, through diverse perspectives, including:
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Strategies for bridging disciplines to enhance learning outcomes.
- Student-Staff Partnerships: Co-creation of curricula, assessments, and learning experiences.
- Community Engagement: Initiatives connecting universities with local, national, or global communities.
- Digital Collaboration: Leveraging technology to foster inclusive and effective connections.
- International Partnerships: Cross-cultural and transnational educational collaborations.
- Peer-to-Peer Learning: Building learning communities among students and staff.
- Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion: Creating collaborative environments that empower all voices.
- Collaborative Research in Education: Insights into joint research initiatives focused on pedagogy and practice.
Conference Keynote Panel
In line with the theme of this year's conference, our keynote is a collaborative panel chaired by Dr Nicholas Evans, Senior Lecturer in Diaspora History & Deputy Director of the Wilberforce Institute. Our Panelists will be Professor John Craig, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), University of Hull; Helene Peterbauer, Director of Institutional Development Unit at European University Association; Professor Manuel Frutos-Perez, Chief Academic Officer, Cambridge Education Group Digital.
We welcome questions or topics from delegates for discussion. So, should you wish to, submit your suggestions and questions to the Panel on the conference booking form.
New to our Conference?
We've been running our yearly summer event on campus for so many years now and started to offer it online in the Summer of 2020. You will find below a few comments from last year's conference evaluation.
"Welcomed the opportunity to take part as another HEI staff member"
"Excellent conference, packed full of useful sessions and well managed throughout."
"Yes, great conference, lots to learn and no talk the same. For me who has a lengthy commute to Hull it was great to be able to join one of the days online."
"Limited ability to network is only limitation but able to attend from the south coast a plus"
"It was great. Well organised and good facilitators. The programme was easy to use to access the sessions."
"It presents an invaluable and seemingly increasingly rare opportunity to come together with colleagues from across the institution and share ideas. Thank you for facilitating."
