University of Hull and the University of Law announce partnership

The University of Hull has announced a partnership with the University of Law (ULaw) to expand its legal training to deliver specialised postgraduate courses on campus.

ULaw’s LLM Solicitor’s Qualification Exam (SQE), is a professional qualification which, along with qualifying work experience, will allow law graduates to practice as solicitors.

The course will equip students with advanced legal knowledge, practical skills, and real-world insights and will be delivered as a full-time in-person programme from September. It provides students with a clear pathway to qualification as solicitors under the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s (SRA) new SQE regime.

Dr Caroline Gibby, Head of Hull Law School, said: “We are excited to be partnering with the University of Law, who will be providing our students with an exceptional LLM SQE programme.

“We are confident that our students will enjoy and benefit from this well established and very successful course, delivered here at the University of Hull, which will enable our students to progress into the legal profession. This adds to our long-established tradition of legal education, and I am sure that there is more to come from this wonderful partnership.”

The partnership will also see a full-time post-graduate diploma for non-law graduates delivered from September. ULaw’s Post-graduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) will offer a comprehensive foundation in legal training to support progression onto the SQE or the Bar Practice Course (BPC).

Professor Peter Crisp, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at The University of Law, said: “We are delighted to partner with the University of Hull, further expanding our presence within the UK’s leading education landscape. This marks ULaw’s 10th collaboration with a university law school, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to supporting aspiring legal professionals across the country. Through this partnership, students at Hull will benefit from our unparalleled expertise in postgraduate legal training, gaining the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their ambitions. We look forward to working closely with Hull to help shape the next generation of legal talent.”
