A stellar line up of Colliderfest events on campus

From a Hollywood star to constellations to the everyday superstars at their local parkrun, we’re delighted to announce additional events taking place on Thursday 13 and Friday, 14 March on the University of Hull campus as part of the Colliderfest science and arts festival.

As part of the Colliderfest ‘lates’ programme, director and Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor CBE will take part in an insightful live-streamed ‘in conversation’ and screening of his latest film, Rob Peace.

Professor Mark Lorch, Colliderfest Director and Chiwetel Ejiofor CBE, actor and director of 'Rob Peace'.

The nightly constellations are more than just star signs; they are entwined with mythologies from across the globe and throughout human history. For Colliderfest, there’ll be an inspiring drone show and illuminating talk about constellations and starlight journeys across the unfathomable depths of the cosmos to reach the eyes of people all over our small blue planet.

We’ll also be joined by Professor Steve Haake, chair of the parkrun research board, to discuss the parkrun phenomenon and the impact this has on people around the world. Parkrun is a global charity that organises free, weekly, 5k and 2k community events in parks and outdoor spaces.

To round up our ‘Lates’ programme, you can also take part in a seated interactive yoga session inspired by the idea that every second breath we take comes from the ocean.

All these events are happening on the evenings of Thursday, March 13 and Friday, 14 March, you can book tickets for the events online here.

Colliderfest is about showing how science is relevant to all, so I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to pull together events, talks and screenings that resonate with folks across the City, be they a parkrun fan, film buffs or just enjoy gazing at the stars.
