



This four year part-time BSc degree is ideal if you want to reinforce or further a career in safety and environmental management.
It incorporates both the NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals and the NEBOSH National Diploma in Environmental Management.
You enrol on the full BSc programme but you can leave at the appropriate point if you just want one or both of the NEBOSH diplomas. Or you can continue and study for the full BSc qualification, on top of your NEBOSH diplomas.

About this course
Launch or further your career with a part-time BSc programme which earns you up to three globally recognised qualifications on the same part-time course.
Students are expected to study for around 20 hours per week – so it can be combined with other commitments – and you have the flexibility to take control of your future by choosing which aspects of the programme you wish to complete.
Whatever you decide, you’ll be securing a university degree-level qualification and will develop the skills to help your organisation make informed decisions and manage risk on a range of environmental and occupational health and safety matters.
Students on the course have come from a range of well-known organisations including The Health and Safety Executive, The Environment Agency, Siemens, BP, INEOS, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and Police Service, Conoco Phillips (P66), Associated British Ports (ABP), and NEBOSH.

Managing Health and Safety
This module develops your understanding of the principles of managing health and safety in the workplace and the legislative framework and judicial system in the UK as it applies to health and safety. This module is also Unit DN1, ‘Know – workplace health and safety principles (UK)’ of the NEBOSH National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals.

Workplace and Work Equipment
This module develops your understanding of the principles of the range of physical hazards encountered within workplaces and through the use of work equipment and the potential effects of exposure to those physical hazards. This module is also Unit DN3, ‘Do – controlling workplace safety issues (UK)’ of the NEBOSH National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals.

Hazardous Agents in the Workplace
This module develops understanding of the principles of the range of hazardous agents encountered in the workplace and the potential effects of exposure of exposure to those agents. This module is also Unit DN2, ‘Do – controlling workplace health issues (UK)’ of the NEBOSH National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals.

Management of Environmental Risk
This module follows the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma syllabus. Topics covered include principles of environmental risk management, control strategies for environmental risk and the range of environmental audit systems.

This module follows the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma syllabus. Topics covered include the environmental legislative framework, enforcement of environmental law, and civil liability.

This module follows the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma syllabus. Topics covered include solid and liquid wastes, gaseous and particulate releases to atmosphere, water pollution, noise, nuisance and classification and protection of the countryside.

The programme also leads to a professional qualification and graduate membership of the recognised professional body in the field, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and also provides opportunity to achieve chartered membership of IOSH.
