Contextual offers
Find out what a contextual offer is, how they work, and how to apply for a contextual offer based on your individual circumstances.

Think university isn’t an option? Think again.
Many students face barriers to higher education - we’re here to change that. Our contextual offers, among the most inclusive in the UK, help level the playing field by considering your background when making an offer.
What is a contextual offer?
We assess a range of factors that can make it harder to access higher education. When you apply to Hull, we check which of these apply to you. Each factor is worth one point, and we use these points to determine the offer we can make.
This personalised approach means your offer is tailored to your circumstances - often with reduced entry requirements for your chosen course.
How do you apply for a contextual offer?
Applying for a contextual offer is exactly the same as a standard university application — no extra forms, no added pressure. Everyone is assessed individually, so there’s nothing additional you need to do.
Complete your UCAS application
UCAS and other application forms ask for details about your background. Be accurate to ensure you receive all the support and benefits you’re entitled to.
We assess your eligibility
The information you provide won’t be used to prevent you from studying at university. If you qualify, we’ll apply a contextual offer automatically.
Your contextual offer will be applied
That’s it! In most cases, contextual offers are applied automatically based on your UCAS application.
