About this course
Want to design for a fashion industry that’s evolving, sustainable and full of opportunity? BA (Hons) Fashion will help you develop the creative, technical, digital and professional skills needed for contemporary fashion careers.
Through practical projects, live industry briefs and placement opportunities, you’ll explore garment construction, pattern cutting, textiles, digital production technologies, product development, branding and visual communication. You’ll gain experience of the fashion product journey, from research and design to production and presentation.
Sustainability is embedded throughout the course, with a focus on responsible sourcing, waste reduction and circular design thinking. You'll have access to all required materials and industry-standard facilities, developing the practical skills needed to build a professional portfolio. Graduates are well prepared for careers in fashion design, product development, branding, buying, styling and a wide range of creative industry roles.

Module options
Each year, you’ll study modules worth a certain number of credits, and you need 120 credits per year. Most modules are 20 credits – so you’ll study six modules each year. Some longer modules, such as a dissertation, are worth more. In these cases, you’ll study fewer modules - but the number of credits will always add up to 120.

How can you bring together your research, skills and creative ambitions in one major project? This module gives you the opportunity to define and realise an independent area of enquiry through the development of a substantial final project.
Through sustained research, experimentation and critical inquiry, you'll investigate specialist themes, test and refine ideas, and develop a portfolio of work that reflects your individual interests and practice. Supported by tutorials, supervision and project reviews, you'll manage your project from proposal to completion, demonstrating originality, technical control, professional judgement and reflective practice.

How to apply for this course
Most importantly, you need ambition. Together with our support and opportunities, you can go further than you ever thought possible.
Our typical offer for this course is 96–112 UCAS points. Our contextual offer is 96 points. But there’s no ceiling on ambition.
At least 80 points must come from A levels, BTEC, or other equivalent qualifications.
Remember, we look at your whole application – not just grades. Achievements, work experience, extracurricular activities: they all count here. We also consider qualifications and experience from the UK and worldwide that may not exactly match those listed.

Fees & Funding
How much is it?
Tuition fees for 2028 entry have not been confirmed. Please use 2027-28 information as a guide.
For UK students, our standard course fee is £10,050 per year. Keep in mind that some courses are longer - for example, spending your third year abroad will make your degree four years in total.
If you choose to study a foundation year as part of your course, the fee is £10,050.

The amount you pay may increase each year, in line with inflation - but capped to the Retail Price Index.
How do I pay for it?
You can take out a tuition fee loan to cover the full cost of your course. Once you’ve successfully applied for this, you don’t need to do anything else – the money is sent straight to us.
You can also take out a maintenance loan of up to £10,544 a year to cover your living costs, depending on your household income.
Remember, you won’t start paying your loans back until you’ve left university and earn more than £25,000 per year.

Future prospects
Graduates will be prepared for careers across the fashion industry, including roles in fashion design, textile and print design, pattern cutting, garment technology, product development, buying, styling, visual merchandising, branding, marketing, and creative direction. The course also supports progression into freelance practice, entrepreneurship, postgraduate study, and a range of wider creative industry roles.
Through the development of technical, digital, creative, and professional skills, students graduate with a strong portfolio and an understanding of contemporary industry processes. Practical projects, industry engagement, and professional practice modules help prepare graduates for both employment and self-employment within an evolving and increasingly technology-driven fashion industry.
