
Study Skills for Lifelong Learning in Health and Social Care
This practical module equips students with essential academic skills, critical thinking abilities, and confidence in using modern study tools to succeed in higher education and beyond.
About this course
The purpose of the module is to provide a refresher course for students on the basics of studying at higher education level and to update students on the current technology and tools. The module will explore the key principles and theories of study in higher education. The aim is to equip the students with up to date study skills and to develop their analytic and critical thinking skills.
The module is practical in nature, comprising of face-to-face workshops, some on-line sessions along with some elements of self-directed study plus weekly tasks done using the virtual learning environment. The students are guided by the workshops and individual academic supervision and are also expected to direct their own learning.
The course is assessed by an assignment plus a learning portfolio that is built up over the course of the module.
This course is delivered on Tuesday mornings.
