About this course

The module is built around the application of key principles and theories from biology, chemistry and physics to health and the body. It is designed for students who wish to gain confidence and skill in the application of scientific knowledge to health and social care practice.

Students undertaking the course attend an introductory session held online and thereafter access the course each week via a web-based virtual learning environment. In addition, the students are required to attend an online group tutorial in the middle of the semester which gives the opportunity for discussion and exam preparation.

Each week students are directed to new interactive materials to guide their learning around a distinct science-based topic. The course is assessed via a two hour online multiple-choice exam. The module is part of the University Certificate for Health and Social Care programme of study.

This course is delivered on Wednesday afternoons on campus.
