This flexible, online postgraduate module equips midwives with the knowledge and skills needed to become a Professional Midwifery Advocate and lead quality improvement in maternity care.
About this course
Advocating and Educating for Quality Improvement (A-EQUIP) is the NHS model consisting of 4 distinct functions, formative, normative, restorative and personal action for quality improvement. The Professional Midwifery Advocate is a fundamental leadership and advocacy role designed to deploy the A-EQUIP model. The role supports staff through a continuous improvement process that aims to build personal and professional resilience, enhance quality of care and support professional revalidation.
This exciting module is aimed at midwives wishing to acquire knowledge and skills to become a Professional Midwifery Advocate and the programme is based on developing the student's skills and expertise.
This programme has received positive feedback and to promote flexible access, an online course has been developed. Teaching strategies will encompass asynchronous and synchronous learning and teaching sessions, individual and group restorative supervision, online interactive resources and leadership activities covering all elements of the model.
Assessment of this course is at level 7 and will involve a virtual online poster presentation which is relevant to your local area of work, students will be awarded 20 credits upon successful completion.
