Assessment and Support for Learners in Professional Practice (Mentorship)
Develop mentorship skills in healthcare with our part-time Level 6 online CPD. Start September, January, or May.
About this course
This course will provide you with an understanding of mentorship within any area of professional healthcare practice. This will focus on the assessment and supervision of students in the clinical environment. Mentoring is the process of supporting people to manage their own learning, so that they may maximise their potential, develop skills and improve their performance.
The module aims to provide UK-registered healthcare professionals with the opportunity to examine the theories that underpin approaches to learning, facilitation, assessment and support in work-based settings. This will enable participants to apply their skills in practice and effectively fulfil their role as mentors/assessors in professional practice.
The module enables students to consider their role in the context of current healthcare and educational changes, whilst focusing on their own responsibilities for teaching and learning.
The module is delivered online, using the canvas virtual learning environment. Therefore, you will require access to a computer or laptop. Students will be expected to attend three online live webinars at the start, middle and end of the 12-week course.
To facilitate learning, applicants are advised to seek support in practice from an experienced mentor/assessor whom they can access for advice during the duration of the module.
