Continuing Professional Development Individual module
Level of study
This module enables you to build on your consolidated clinical practice role whilst acquiring further advanced skills under supervision. The advances encompass those elements of practice formerly seen as advanced roles as identified within the Perioperative Care Collaborative document 'Surgical First Assistant'.
Successful completion of this module will equip the healthcare practitioner with up to date augmented skills necessary to fulfil an expanded role within the perioperative arena. Exposure, participation, supervision, visits, observation, goal setting, discussion, reflection, questioning, and opportunities for role modelling will be utilised to facilitate the integration of theory to practice.
Students undertaking this module will work within the clinical setting with a designated clinical mentor/assessor and mentorship/assessment team. You will observe, monitor and consider the impact of intervention upon the patient/client.
Whilst caring for patients, you will demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge at the appropriate level in order to achieve the learning outcomes.
