Summary

Thamara has worked in a variety of educational settings for more than 30 years.

She has been a lecturer and Program Director at the University since 2014 and delivers modules for the BA Early Childhood Studies , BA Working with Children Young People and Families in Hull and has delivered programmes in Hong Kong.

Thamara is a trained level 3 Forest School practitioner

Thamara gained her Doctorate in Education in 2024 with her thesis titles: Parents’ values and children’s academic achievements: Hong Kong parents’ choices of early childhood education

Thamara is a Trustee at Home Start Hull since January 2023 and is passionate about parents and families and their values

Previously, Thamara worked with young children and families in early years settings as well as with the Educational Social Work Service in North Yorkshire where she worked closely with primary schools, nurseries, Sure Start centre's and families.

Research interests

Thamara researched Parental values and the impact of these values on the choices parents make for their children, this was an international study undertaken in Hong Kong.
