Summary

Having previously been a police officer for 22 years in 3 forces including Humberside police, i am now retired and joined Hull University as a lecturer on the Degree in Professional Policing.

I have extensive experience in policing, especially in the areas of front line policing and the training of police officers in line with new PEQF framework. This can be supported in my previous role for six and half years training and teaching new student police officers on PCDA/DHEP in line with PEQF programs in conjunction with HEI requirements

I have interest in Trust and confidence in police, gender and policing especially violence and Domestic abuse , counter-terrorism (PREVENT), Human trafficking, modern day slavery and the policing of vulnerability and domestic abuse, this is cemented by nationally accredited training delivery for both Vulnerability and Domestic abuse.

In the last 4 years i have achieved my level 7 as Master of Education and 1st class Hons in BA of education and Professional development.

I am currently the programme director for the professional policing degree. And i am a Senior fellow of the HEA.

I am a PhD student in the School of Criminology, Sociology and Policing. Looking at trust, confidence and legitimacy in police and the barriers linked to these issues from minority communities.

I have engaged in collaborative writing for policing insight and produced a number of articles around Trust, cultural issues and mental health.

I have a teaching qualification from my previous role and whilst in my current role have managed to achived Senior fellowship status via the HEA.
