About Helen Conway

Helen is an Adult Nursing Lecturer specialising in Acute Adult Nursing Care at the University of Hull. Helen started her lecturing role at the University in 2021 and has experience in a number of specialities within Nursing care. Helen qualified in 2008 as an Adult Nurse and worked for 10 years in Cardiothoracic Surgery having rotated into the Cardiac Intensive Care unit within Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. In 2018 Helen commenced her MSc in Advanced Practice whilst undertaking her training as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in the Community within a General Practice (GP) surgery. Helen is completing her dissertation module currently to complete her MSc in Advanced Practice. On commencing her lecturing role in 2021, Helen has completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice in 2023 and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Helen teaches on modules within the BSC (Hons) and Apprenticeship Nursing programme and also the University Certificate programme. Helen also assists the Advanced Practice Apprenticeship team to be the Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) for the presentation assessments for the final trimester of the programme prior to completion.

At the Student Choice awards in 2025 Helen was awarded and received the Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Award for the Faculty of Health Sciences for her efforts and dedication to teaching Nursing students.
