About Dr Anna Stevenson

Dr Anna Stevenson (AFHEA) specialises in modern poetry and the interplay between literature and art. Her doctoral research explores the influence of Shakespeare, W.B. Yeats, and T.S. Eliot on the early work of Ted Hughes, with a publication currently in the works.

Anna’s work bridges literary history, close textual analysis, and cultural context, with a particular emphasis on how poetic form and expression responds to shifting intellectual landscapes. She has a strong interest in poetic voice, and the Renaissance-modernist nexus, and has presented at international academic conferences, including work recognised for excellence by peers in her field.

In addition to her research, Anna contributes to the academic community, as a Brynmor Jones Library blog author and library assistant, where she engages with literature outreach and scholarly communication. She holds Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), and is also an active council member at both The Ted Hughes Society and The Philip Larkin Society

Her publications and papers, such as those on Philip Larkin’s connections to local archives, and Ted Hughes’s literary influences, demonstrate a dedication to enriching our understanding of 20th-century British poetry and its roots in earlier literary traditions.
