League table success highlights Hull’s student-focused results
A new national rankings confirms the University of Hull is a great place to study.
The Complete University Guide publishes annual league tables ranking UK universities’ overall performance and compares them across 74 subject areas.
The newly published 2027 Guide ranks Hull in the top 20 for student satisfaction, 18th out of 130 institutions and second in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
A major climber this year, we’ve risen 17 places to 64th overall with only three of the 11 Yorkshire and Humber region universities ranked above Hull.
Professor John Craig, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) said: “University league tables can only offer a snapshot of all our activities but it’s encouraging to see the University of Hull moving emphatically in the right direction.
The rise in our overall ranking reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire University community, students and staff.Professor John Craig
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education)
“The rise in our overall ranking reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire University community, students and staff. It’s particularly welcome to see subject making significant improvements, securing first-place category successes."
The University’s significant ranking increase is backed by:
· Creative Writing and Physiotherapy ranked best in the UK for Student Satisfaction both securing the number one spot
· A Top 10 ranking for Childhood and Youth Studies overall
· A joint number one position for Medicine in terms of Graduate Prospects – Outcomes with Physiotherapy and Geology also securing first place in that category
· Drama, Dance and Cinematics and Physiotherapy ranked joint first for Continuation
· Four courses are in the top performing quartile – Childhood and Youth Studies; Drama, Dance and Cinematics; History and Social Work
· Twenty subjects increased in rank, with the top subject risers were Drama, Dance and Cinematics; History; Sports Sciences; English and Physiotherapy who all feature in the top two quartiles.
· A 42-place jump for Graduate Prospects – On Track meaning we’re getting our graduates on the path towards their future careers
The main league table is based on ten measures: entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality, research intensity, academic services spend, facilities spend, continuation, student-staff ratio and graduate prospects (on track and outcomes).
